David Hocker has enjoyed a distinguished career as a jazz musician and teacher in Los Angeles
for over 30 years. He holds a BA in Music from California State University Long Beach and
studied drum technique privately with both Murray Spivack and Richard Wilson.
He has worked and/or recorded with Tony Malaby, Bob Sheppard, John Patitucci, Bill Cunliffe, Dave Carpenter, Steve Cardenas, Eddie Harris, Putter Smith, Eric Marienthal, Larry Koonse, Darek Oles, Alan Pasqua, Jay Anderson, Scott Colley, and many
others.
David is a frequent clinician and has presented workshops and masterclasses at dozens of
music schools and universities including the Musicians Institute in Hollywood, Cal Arts in
Valencia, The Jazz School in Berkeley, and Los Angeles Music Academy (LAMA) in Pasadena.
He has maintained an active teaching schedule throughout his career.
