Rates Page -Photo 1   I charge $60 for a one-hour drum lesson.

Payments are due the first lesson of each month and cover all the lessons for that particular month. It’s acceptable to cancel a lesson at any time for any reason, but 1) you must contact me at least 24 hours prior to the lesson’s starting time and, 2) it is your responsibility to schedule a make-up lesson independent of the lessons already scheduled for that month. Missed lessons with no advanced notice cannot be made up.

I teach out of my drum studio in South Pasadena. I can come to you if you prefer (provided you have access to the necessary equipment) but if you live a considerable distance away the rate may be slightly higher due to the greater time commitment.

As a working musician my schedule varies, but I’m very flexible and will do whatever I can to select a day and time that’s convenient for both of us.

I’m disinclined to give half-hour lessons because I’ve found it simply isn’t realistic to expect to get much work done in that amount of time. It takes a while to get to the heart of a lesson, where the real learning happens, and additional time to summarize, review, and answer questions. This just isn't possible in a half-hour. Parents of younger students occasionally ask me if offering shorter lessons wouldn’t be more practical, but I find that even very young children are capable of extraordinary concentration when they're engaged in an activity as stimulating as learning to play a musical instrument.

If you feel strongly that shorter lessons would be more suitable, however, I do make exceptions. Please contact me and I’d be happy to discuss it.
